Player Evaluations

EvaluationsEach spring, Milton Travel Soccer players entering U9-U14 (3rd-8th grade) age groups in the Fall participate in player evaluations. These evaluations are used to place players on appropriate level teams that compete in BAYS at similar levels of competition.  Players are placed in small sided games and evaluated by professional coaches. The idea is that players have fun playing with players at their own age group.   The process is not perfect, but these external evaluations along with coaches' ratings are used to place players on appropriate teams.  Over 4 years, this process generally offers appropriate playing opportunities for all players in Milton.

There are two dates for evaluations and are usually conducted during the first and second weekends of June.  Announcements for the player evaluations will be made via miltonmasoccer.org, our Facebook page, and via email.  We highly recommend attending both days for a better evaluation, but attending one is much better than not attending any.

It is expected that parents will observe from afar and not interfere in the process.  Professional coaches will be evaluating players on their technical, tactical, and athletic abilities as well as their attitudes.

Player and team placement is very much dependent on the number of players that register on time.  Input is also sought from coaches who see the players every week.  This process is not perfect, but it has proven to work out over the long term.
